What do you know about ISKCON TEMPLE

The ISKCON temple was founded in 1966 in New York City by Sri Sri Abhayacharanarvind Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupadji. Swami Prabhupada ji established this temple to spread the message of Lord Krishna to the whole world. Currently there are about 400 ISKCON temples all over the world. ISKCON Temple in Bangalore is the largest ISKCON temple in the world.This temple was built in 1997. ISKCON's followers propagate the Gita and Hindu religion and culture in the world.The International Krishnabhavamritta Sangh known as ISKCON has compiled the precious verses of the Gita and created a Gita which is considered to be the world's largest and heaviest Srimad Bhagavad Gita. Its weight of one page is so much that it needs 4 people to roll it. On 26 February, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release it at ISKCON temple located in East of Kailas, Delhi.

Swami Prabhupadji 


He was born in a Bengali Kayastha family in Calcutta on 1 September 1896. His childhood name was Abhay Charan. The father's name was 'Gaur Mohan Dey' and mother's name was 'Rajni'. His father was a cloth merchant. Abhay Charan met his Guru Maharaja Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Goswami in 1922. Eleven years later, in 1933, he became his duly initiated disciple in Prayag. Swami Prabhupada was told by his guru Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur to spread Vedic knowledge through the English language. In the following years Srila Prabhupada wrote a commentary on 'Srimad Bhagavadgita', supported the work of Gaudiya Math. In 1944 Srila Prabhupada started an English fortnightly magazine without any help, which he himself did all the work of editing, typing the manuscript and refining the printed material. Srila Prabhupada did not allow this magazine to be closed in spite of immense conflicts and shortages. Recognizing the importance of Srila Prabhupada's philosophical knowledge and devotion, the Gaudiya Vaishnava society honored him with the title of Bhakti Vedanta in 1947. When he arrived in New York City for the first time by a cargo vessel, he had no money. In July 1966, after nearly a year of extreme difficulty, he founded the International Krishnabhavnamrita Sangh ('ISKCON' ISKCON). In 1968, Neo-Vrindavan was established in the hills of Virginia, USA as an experiment. Impressed by this rich agricultural area of two thousand acres, his disciples established such communities elsewhere. Primary and Secondary Education by establishing Gurukul in Dallas, Texas in 1972. Srila Prabhupala, due to his skillful guiding, made 'ISKCON' more than a hundred temples around the world in schools, temples, institutions and until the 'Krishna-Balaram Temple', on November 14, 1977, went into Vrindavan Dham. Made a large organization of agricultural communities. Srila Prabhupada ji passed away on 14 November 1977 at Vrindavan Dham in the famous religious city of Mathura.
