Rishikesh (Sanskrit: Hrishikesh) is a city, Hindu pilgrimage center, Nagar Nigam and Tehsil in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. It is the gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas and the global capital of yoga. Rishikesh is located 25 km north of Haridwar and 43 km south-east from Dehradun. The entrance to the Himalayas, Rishikesh, where it reaches the Ganges, leaving the Ganges Ranges and moving towards the surface. The serene atmosphere of Rishikesh is home to many noted ashrams.
